Family Camping Essentials: The Adult Beverage

Happy New Year Campers! As we ring in 2011, I sit here at home and cannot help but think: “We are getting closer to summer”! However, since we still have several months to go and six inches of snow currently on the ground here at 8,000 feet and those up above 11,000 feet have over 20 inches of new snow in the last week, I thought I might venture off the path for a moment and talk about some good brew to get us through this winter season and to take up to the mountaintops (or beaches) this summer.
When family camping, the adults must take a moment for themselves and enjoy a good beverage or two. After a long day of play (kids up at dawn mind you!) it is important to take a moment and enjoy the scenery around the roaring campfire. With this in mind, I have recently found a true love with the O’Dell’s brewing company. Locals to Fort Collins, CO they offer an astounding selection of beer that can be enjoyed in all weather.
My current favorite for the winter season is their “Isolation Ale”. This brew is perfect for a midwinter’s retreat whether it be at a cabin or from your favorite armchair at home. For the summer I particularly enjoy their “Levity Amber Ale” a lighter take on your typical amber, it is refreshing and full-bodied. Finally, for those who prefer the non-alcoholic selections their hand crafted root beer is delicious!
So here’s to the New Year of 2011 and all it has to offer!
Cheers!
