Family Camping Essentials: The First Aid Kit
Rule of Thumb: Small children will get a cut or two on camping trips. Scrapes, cuts and bruises are easily cured with a band-aid or three.
One of the most important (and easily forgotten) items is the first aid kit. Relatively inexpensive, first aid kits supply the family that camps with everything from band-aids to tick removers. There are many types of first aid kits out there ranging from $15-$200. Over the years I have found that the $20-$25 range meets the needs of the car camping family.
For the basic first aid needs I recommend the Adventure Medical Kits First-Aid 2.0 Kit sold at REI. In addition to the first aid kit I highly suggested adding the Little Remedies Everything Baby Needs Travel Kit. It is a great “just in case” kit and covers the kiddos who might encounter allergies, gas or diaper rash!

You can also make your own kits and if you have most of the supplies around your house already then it may be cheaper than buying a whole kit. Either way, just remember to pack it! :)
